Art Exhibition by Sangeeta Babani

About The Artist

Born in Spain,  Sangeeta Babani is known for imbibing Spanish Art and Culture into her paintings. She was the first artist selected by Tata Motors to transform the Nano car into an iconic work of Art in 2012. Her work on metal is as reflective of her influences as that on canvas. She has painted for BMW Infinity Cars and has even worked with Jeep and Mercedes Benz.

She demonstrated her versatility by taking art outside the traditional gallery space in 2016, when she showcased her 18 feet installation made from 85000 bottle caps. It was a tribute to all the technology that we grew up with, but is insignificant today – aptly named The Lost Art. She was a contributing artist for AccessLife’s charitable project where she painted live and auctioned off that artwork on stage in record time to support cancer bravehearts.

She has represented India in various international events and has been acclaimed and acknowledged several times during her career. Not only was she awarded for her contemporary work in Paris (2017), she was also bestowed with the AspiringShe Women Achiever Award (2018). As an artist she is multifaceted in her approach and is always working on something new and exciting.

Her Art

Sangeeta’s paintings perform the role of a conveyor of personal feelings through colours. Every piece of work is perceived as a kind of relationship between the artist and the viewer. She explains, “I believe a boundary is not that at which something stops, but that from which something begins”. She explores various subjects, all of which touch upon different aspects of life.

Characterised by an ambiguity, while being introspective and impressionist in nature, her paintings come alive with vibrant hues, multiple thoughts and a story. One can sum it up as a journey to the unknown. Her style is different. Her precision gives her paintings depth. There are no straight answers and that is the beauty of life – this philosophy of hers is celebrated in her canvases.

Fairytales – Her Exhibition

Sangeeta Babani recently launched an exhibition titled ‘Fairy Tales’ at Jehangir Art Gallery (Kala Ghoda, Fort) showcasing different cities around the globe manifested in bright and vibrant colors. It was an exhibit Inaugurated by Priya Dutt and Niladri Kumar, marking the occasion of Women’s Day.
